04 August 2015 - Witney shop becomes Terracycle Public Collection Point

It’s not often we ask you bring us your rubbish, but that’s about to change! African Children’s Fund’s Witney shop has been designated a Public Collection Point for the following TerraCycle recycling brigades:

·         Biscuit wrappers – packaging from any brand of sweet biscuits

·         Air & Home Care packaging – plastic bottle caps & trigger heads; plastic air fresheners & cartridges; plastic air freshener packaging; cleaning ‘wipes’ packets

·         Tassimo – TDISCS and outer plastic packaging

We will earn money each time we return this packaging to TerraCycle for recycling so we encourage anybody in the Witney area to start saving your waste in the above categories and to bring it along to the African Children’s Fund shop in Corn Street. Our shop is open from 9am-4:30pm, Monday to Saturday.

Remember that it costs us just 7 pence to provide a child with a nutritious porridge meal at school, meaning parents will allow their children to attend school instead of insisting that they work, scavenge or beg for food. What’s more, fed children learn a lot better than their hungry counterparts so a simple mug of porridge goes such a long way to giving a child hope and opportunity for a prosperous future!

TerraCycle upcycles and recycles traditionally non-recyclable waste into a large variety of consumer products including bags, benches, pencil cases and flower pots. These products keep waste out of our landfills and contribute to a cleaner world.

Our thanks also go to Sustainable Witney and West Oxfordshire District Council for supporting us in this initiative.
