School Partnerships

Our work with school children in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe links easily with schools’ work on Global Citizenship and ethics, and we would love to collaborate with teachers in this area.

We welcome the support of schools, who can make a significant difference to Kenyan Porridge Clubs where every 9p raised provides a child with a mug of porridge at school. If your school is in Oxfordshire or close by, we are happy to speak in assemblies and for those further afield, we can provide a presentation about our work.

Teaching Resources

Here are six top primary school teaching resources we hope you’ll find useful.

1) Wordsearch - Download our African Children’s Fund themed wordsearch.

2) Coin collection sheet - Download a sheet and fill it with £1 coins when you fundraise for African Children’s Fund.

3) Bead people - Maasai communities in Kenya have traditionally created beautiful, colourful jewellery from beads. Here’s a simple design for bead people you could encourage your class to try.

4) Maasai collar necklaces - Staying on the Maasai jewellery theme, how about a collar necklace? Twinkl has KS1 paper or pasta options.

5) Porridge tasting - Host a porridge tasting event with a variety of different toppings for children to enjoy. Younger children can explore different flavours, while older children can research nutrition.

6) Charity shop donations - If you’re in Oxfordshire, perhaps you could invite children to bring in donations for our charity shops. We will happily arrange to collect them from you.

We’re also very happy to work with your school to help you develop your own content or to support your teaching, so please contact us if you have ideas we haven’t mentioned.

Superkind

SuperKind is an award-winning, free platform helping schools to bring active citizenship and social action into the classroom. In addition to providing an array of resources that help you integrate charity into the classroom, they have also created a dedicated fundraising platform aimed at helping children become the next generation of change-makers while putting the power - and fun! - directly into their hands. Our dedicated SuperKind profile helps children safely and enjoyably take the lead on their own fundraising plans.
