Special School Success

We're very proud to have supported St Patrick's Special School in Thika in Kenya for a number of years, and more recently, we have begun working with AIC Mukeu Special School which is also in Kiambu County. Pupils at both schools have a range of physical and learning disabilities, and are taught skills to encourage independent living into adulthood.

We were pleased last week to hear success stories from two of their students:

Joseph has cerebral palsy and loved learning ICT at St Patrick's. The school administration helped him secure a job at a flower export company where he is working on data entry and doing very well! Joseph has subsequently opened his own bank account and intends to build his own house on a family plot of land.

Joshua was a senior student at AIC Mukeu and just before Coronavirus forced school closures, he had begun learning about some of the tasks needed to work on the school farm. Despite the school closure, he has continued to look after their cows and chickens, and will be employed by the school as soon as it reopens. Both Joshua and his mother are delighted about the opportunity he has created, and they are looking forward to the future.

Your support helps these wonderful programmes flourish and provides life-changing opportunities for children like Joseph and Joshua. Your donations - no matter how big or small - matter. Please continue to give whatever you are able to afford. Thank you for your kindness.
