Introducing... Virtual Events

Two girls at Joy Children’s Home washing their hands with sanitiser

As part of the measures in place to tackle COVID-19 (Coronavirus), our charity shops have closed and many planned fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled, leading to an immediate drop in revenue for African Children’s Fund.

Families in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe whose children are normally supported by our projects need soap and sanitisers. Our partners are also identifying those who need additional care packages for their families as all casual work has stopped.

Lots of you have been asking how you can get involved, so we are delighted to launch three new Virtual Events!

During this period of activity restrictions, we’re calling on our amazing African Children’s Fund supporters to join #TeamACF by either walking 10,000 steps in a single day, running/walking for 5 kilometres or running/walking for 10 kilometres in return for sponsorship from your friends and family.

Please ensure you adhere to Government guidance on exercise and social distancing when you undertake these challenges.

All participants of our steps challenge will receive a digital medal and participation certificate while participants in our 5km and 10km challenges will also receive a real-life medal by post to congratulate you on your achievement!

We have included a suggest fundraising target for each event of a minimum of £25 but of course the more you can raise, the better! Soap and sanitiser costs around £5 for a family, and the care packages are around £15 each. Every pound you raise really will make a difference so please encourage your friends and family to give generously! Thank you.
