Fairtrade Fortnight 2023 - Endangered Foods

Fairtrade Fortnight runs from 27th February - 12th March with this year's theme 'Endangered Foods' highlighting the dangerous combination of climate change with the effects of unfair trade on communities producing many of our much-loved food items.

We set our shop teams in Faringdon, Grove and Witney a challenge to treat their volunteers with Fairtrade goodies. It's a little thank you for their efforts and an opportunity to reiterate the importance of choosing Fairtrade. Here's what they found!

Last year, we explained why Fairtrade was important to African Children's Fund. After all, we're not food retailers so why does it matter to us? Well, we might not be but many of the parents of children supported by the Porridge Clubs programme in Kenya are. Tea and flower production is prevalent in the Thika area so when adults are paid fairly for their work, the chances of their children regularly attending school are so much higher.

This Fairtrade Fortnight, join us in committing to choosing Fairtrade. For the next two weeks and beyond!
