Joy Children's Centre | Please Help
We're sorry to have to put out an emergency appeal so soon after your Small Charity Week generosity.
During the 3rd/4th July, the kitchen at the Joy Children's Centre in Kenya was sadly broken into. All their cooking pots and utensils were stolen. Please help us raise the £1,500 required to replace them and secure the kitchen.
The Joy Children's Centre has 80 children living on site and around 200 students attending the school. As well as providing food to the children who live there, the kitchen provides daily porridge meals to the students as well as subsidising lunches.
They have borrowed one small cooking pot but as you can imagine, this is not practical for cooking for so many children. You can see the holes in the jiko cookers, which would normally contain large cooking pots.
Though unharmed, as well as the practical ramifications of this burglary, many of the Joy team and children who live on site were understandably shaken up to by the events.
We're aiming to raise £1,500 so the Joy Children's Centre can purchase new cooking pots and utensils, as well as shoring up security in their kitchen. All donations, large and small, will be gratefully received.
The links we have shared in this article point to our dedicated Facebook appeal but you can also make a donation on Instagram, by clicking on the Donate button on our website (please reference Joy Children’s Centre) or by Bank Transfer (please contact us for our Bank details).
We appreciate not all our supporters are in a position to make a financial contribution, so we would be extremely grateful if you could also help by sharing this appeal.
Thank you in advance for your kind contributions
