Ongoing land scam - BEWARE

The scam SMS message with a blurred section saying SCAM in the middle

Further to our posts on 2nd March and 13th July 2021, we are very disappointed to have to remind our supporters of an ongoing land scam which appears to be targeting those living in Kenya.

Unsolicited SMS messages are being sent - purportedly from individuals claiming to represent African Children’s Fund - suggesting we are looking to purchase land in Kenya.

Please note, African Children’s Fund is NOT seeking land and nor are any of our partners.

Furthermore, we DO NOT know the individuals whose names are included in the SMS messages and they certainly DO NOT represent us. New name are being added to the SMS messages regularly and they include ‘Dr Winsley Gray’, 'Ellie Brooks', ‘Sarah Earley’, ‘Emma Poel’, ‘Bella Ranui Smith’, ‘Dr Leslie Smith’, ‘Dr Carol Thoss’, ‘Dr Carly Smith’ and ‘Dr Pamela Packer’. Please note this list is not exhaustive.

Finally, we would NEVER send unsolicited SMS messages.

If you receive one of these messages, please DO NOT engage with the sender and report them immediately to your local authorities. You can submit reports to the Communications Authority of Kenya and if you are a Safaricom customer, you can forward the SMS message to 333.
