Congratulations Simon!

Our fantastic fundraiser and volunteer, Simon, decided a new year warranted a new challenge!

Two portrait photos of Simon wearing his African Children’s Fund t-shirt - on the left showing the front of the shirt and the right showing the back.

In December, he took up running in his home town of Abingdon and managed to run 18 miles throughout the month. As 1st January got closer, he decided to turn his new-found hobby into a fundraising charity challenge: could he run 50 miles in January?

The answer was a resounding YES with Simon completing his challenge by running his first 10K in thirty years!

What’s more, he sailed through his fundraising target of £200 and his JustGiving page currently stands at a phenomenal £642 plus Gift Aid!. Those funds will of course make a huge difference to the projects we support where even small donations make a big difference.

It has been a great experience and I would recommend doing something like this to anyone. Thank you to everyone who sponsored me and thank you to the African Children’s Fund for your support. I’ve signed up for the Oxford Half Marathon in October!
