Team ACF Assemble | TCS London Marathon 2027

After a plethora of wonderful applications and difficult decisions, we're incredibly excited to introduce you to our team who will be taking part in the 2027 TCS London Marathon on Saturday 24th April.

First up, it’s Anna who is running in memory of family member, Mervyn.

"African Children's Fund does incredible work for children in countries such as Uganda, providing them with resources that we take for granted. Even from my research into different charities, it has really opened my eyes and my heart.”

A former rower and regular runner, London will be Anna's first marathon. Show her some love!

Come in, number two! Here’s Asher.

"In 2027, I'd be honoured to wear the African Children's Fund vest, not only to achieve another personal goal but to help give children access to the education and opportunities they deserve."

This proud dad of 3 is a keen runner who's taken on several Marathons previously, and we don't doubt his children will be his loudest supporters from the sidelines! Welcome, Asher.

Next, please welcome Ben. Ben is local to us in Oxfordshire, and is a member of the wonderful Juice Networking group, who have kindly supported us as their charity partner for several years.

"African Children's Fund works tirelessly to improve the lives of the people who need it most. I'm excited to work with and support a brilliant cause. Together, we make a difference."

Though he's completed half marathons previously, this will be Ben's first marathon so please join us in giving him a huge welcome to the team.

The fourth member of our team is Hannan.

“Helping children and communities in need is a cause I have cared deeply about and will continue campaigning for throughout my life. It has taught me that one person, anywhere in the world, can make a real difference.”

Hannan grew up in Kenya where she still has family, and she's looking to build on her previous Marathon experience from Edinburgh in 2024. Let's go Hannan!

And last - but by no means least - we're wrapping up our Famous Five by introducing you to Kevin.

"Having spent time in Tanzanian classrooms and seeing first-hand how eager the children are to learn was really eye-opening. I got to see the direct impact these kinds of school programmes have on local communities."

Kevin took part in the Manchester Marathon earlier this year and is looking to better his time in London. Welcome to the team, Kevin!

If you’ve secured your own place for the London Marathon and would like to represent African Children’s Fund, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking forward to sharing more of our Team’s stories, motivation and training adventures over the next few months. In the meantime, you can find a link to each of their fundraising pages in their bios on this page. Please join us in wishing them every success!
